A key issue of the Collaborative Research Centre “Immune-Mediated Glomerular Diseases” is the transfer of experimental results and concepts to patients with selected immunemediated glomerular diseases.
The first Central Project (C1: Hamburg Glomerulonephritis Registry) provides a platform for all human studies of the SFB initiative. Its purpose is the establishment of a large cohort of patients with membranous nephropathy, membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis/ C3 glomerulopathy, minimal change disease and rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (ANCA-GN, Lupus Nephritis and anti-GBM-Nephritis). Starting point for data collection is the renal biopsy, followed by regular clinical and laboratory assessments of the participating patients. Participants are followed in a prospective longitudinal manner. All samples (renal biopsies, blood samples, urine samples) are organized in a bio bank to generate a platform for all human analyses of the CRC. The project C1 is also responsible for statistical analyses. The second Central Project (C2: Management and Coordination of the CRC) is the coordinating and administrating unit of the CRC. Its major goal is to facilitate and improve the quality of the research conducted in the SFB. Further important goals are the career development of young investigators, the promotion of women academics and scientists, the structural development of the initiative, the organization of all scientific meetings, the public relation of the CRC, and the strengthening of structures supporting research on immunemediated kidney disease within the Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf
